GENERAL RULES

**HELMETS ARE REQUIRED FOR ALL UNDER 18**

All changes or additions to classes after the show is in progress must be made on a special form available at the secretary’s booth. Please use this form for all changes.

Do not verbally tell the secretaries. Post entry changes may be made up to two (2) classes prior to the class involved. Classes with only one entry will be cancelled. Tack hold requests must be directed to the show secretary. Please do not direct any questions to the announcer. All questions are to be directed to the show manager, show secretaries or the ring steward.

Un-sportsman like conduct such as excessive spurring/batting can disqualify you from your class. Abuse to animals or persons will not be tolerated. You can be removed from the show grounds. Excessive foul language or dangerous behavior will not be tolerated. Horses that are proven to be lame can be disqualified following a consultation. The ethics committee will be called on to make decisions on these matters, as well as any disputes when the manager is directly involved.

Stallions may only be exhibited by adults over 18 yrs and should be attended at all times. Please put yellow ribbons on stallions & red ribbons on horses with a tendency to kick. Please keep these horses away from the other horses.

Cantering allowed in warm-up area only (ball field.) No cantering or working horse in trailer parking area or on roads leading into or out of the show grounds. Walk/trot contestants must not canter anywhere on the grounds during show day.

No horses allowed in spectators’ area at any time. There is a designated No Horse Zone by the safety in gate to the riding ring.

Spectators please stay away from rail side areas, safety chute entrance and surrounding barn area. Please attend to children at all times and please keep them in the spectator area. For your own safety grounds officials to direct spectators and riders will monitor these areas.

No climbing on, leaning through or sitting on the fence rails. Please stand back from the rail when classes are in progress.

Dogs must be kept on a leash and quiet. If your dog barks, you will be asked to quiet them or to leave.

Bikes are not allowed on the show grounds at any time.

Speed limit on the grounds is 15 MPH. Speed limit on the Airport Rd is 25 MPH

 

TACK AND APPOINTMENTS

  • HALTER, GROOMING & SHOWMANSHIP

REQUIRED: Handler must show in proper English or Western attire. Horse: Western - halter; English - bridle.

OPTIONAL: For English only: crops

  • ENGLISH CLASSES

REQUIRED: Exhibitors will compete with English saddle and bridle using one of the following: regulation snaffle, pelham or full bridle, all with cavesson nosebands. English style shirt, jacket, boots and hunt cap or derby. The judge may excuse jackets in hot weather.

OPTIONAL: Crops and un-rowelled spurs.

PROHIBITED: Hackamores, tie downs, martingales or other training devices.

EXCEPTION: An exhibitor may at any time choose to substitute a helmet for style headgear without being penalized.

  • WESTERN CLASSES

REQUIRED: Exhibitors will compete with Western bridle and saddle, Western style shirt, hat and boots.

OPTIONAL: Spurs and chaps.

PROHIBITED: Hackamores, tie downs, martingales or other training devices.

EXCEPTION: Gymkhana

EXCEPTIONS: An exhibitor may at any time choose to substitute a helmet for style headgear without being penalized. Horses of any age may be exhibited in a snaffle bit as we are a training type club.

  • JUMPING CLASSES

REQUIRED: English saddle or saddle without horn, English bridle, proper use of an ASTM - SEI helmet, boots with heels.

OPTIONAL: Martingales, crops and un-rowelled spurs.

PROHIBITED: Tie-downs, draw reins or other training devices

REQUIRED: Saddle, bridle, boots or a sturdy equivalent with heels, long pants and long or short sleeve shirt.

OPTIONAL: Hackamores, tie downs, martingales or other training devices, spurs and chaps, hats, crops.

PROHIBITED: Tank or halter-tops or flat-soled footwear.

REQUIRED: Western or English saddle, boots or a sturdy equivalent with heels, long pants, and long or short sleeve shirt. Proper use of stirrups is mandatory in all Gymkhana classes.

OPTIONAL: Hats, spurs, bats, crops and over & unders. Helmets are strongly suggested.

PROHIBITED: Tank or halter-tops or flat-soled footwear such as sneakers. Excessive use of spurs, bats, crops and over & unders.
